Backpack Brigade
Many children rely on school meals for most of their food and nutrition, and too many go hungry on the weekends. Backpack Brigade aims to end weekend hunger. Its volunteers "pack thousands of bags of kid-friendly, easy-to-cook food and deliver them to schools in Seattle, Renton, Highline and Bellevue where they're distributed by school staff to students in need." According to its website, it reaches more than 5,300 children each week across 107 schools.

Backpack Brigade says "$7.50 feeds a child for the entire weekend." Nichelle Hilton of Backpack Brigade wrote that our gift will help students "face a weekend without hunger, with the ability to focus on what's most important, being a child!!"
